Around 60% of the world's emerald production come from Colombia. Most of the gemstones are cut, faceted and processed into jewelry in the workshops located in the emerald district in downtown Bogota. There are approximately 2000 jewelers working in the emerald district. Due to their special clarity and deep vivid green color, Colombian emeralds are considered the most beautiful in the world.
